Following the holding objection from both Warwickshire County Council and the Worcestershire Wildlife Trust, the extent of proposed biodiversity enhancements on the development have been increased. These include the retention and improvement of more of the northern ditch course; the creation of additional wetland swales and ditches; combing the two manmade stagnant ponds in to a single natural pond; the retention of more native woodland; the creation of more native woodland and the provision of a community orchard.

With the agreement of both the County Councils, the new national biodiversity net gain policy from the new Environment Bill has been applied to the development resulting in a substantial financial contribution to be shared amongst both councils for use on local biodiversity projects.

Precise details of the numbers of Polar plantation trees and native trees being removed and the amount of new native planting and new native trees has been provided and illustrated on the submitted plans. This shows that some c515 Poplar Trees and 11 individual trees are being removed, and some c600 new native trees are being provided and 41 individual trees are being retained. In addition, c2.5 ha of new native woodland is being provided and/or enhanced compared to c1.1ha of existing woodland scrub being removed. In total c4.8ha of Green Infrastructure is being provided on the development which represents c36% of the total site area.

For full details regarding the landscaping and ecological/biodiversity enhancements, see the revised landscape plans, ecological appraisal, biodiversity technical note and associated documents, as part of the submission to the Council.
